Barnyard Inspired Pot Pie

I had some gravy that I needed to use up so I thought a pot pie would do the trick. The kids have recently become fans since I have been transforming them into their favorite barnyard animals. Check out our chicken pot pie and our shepherds pie.

So last night I made a cow out of their pot pie to entice them into eating this dish.

They moooved pretty fast on these pot pies and they were gone in a second. Who knew? I should have done this years ago!

So here is another barnyard inspired pie!

These only took an extra five minutes to make. Nothing fancy. I used a pie crust to make all the shapes on their little faces. I used a butter knife to cut them out. To make the eyes and the holes in the nose I used a sippie cup plug. I know it's weird but it works very well and we don't use sippie cups anymore, so I just kept the plug for this purpose. If you don't have any thing that could cut out a hole that small you could use peas, black olive ends, or corn in place of the eyes and holes in the nose.

I brushed the main piece first with milk. You could also use an egg wash. Then, I laid the pieces on top to bring the whole cow face together.

The kids just love seeing it come together and of course eating it, which is the goal after all!

"For every beast of the forest is mine, and the cattle upon a thousand hills."
