Resurrection Sunday & Spiritual Birthday

"The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith unto him, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world."  John 1:29

"Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.

Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?

Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again." John 3:3-7

Today is my spiritual birthday! I love the analogy that the good Lord has given us between a spiritual birthday and a physical birthday!

First a seed is planted! A seed  is planted when someone shares the gospel with you. Luke 8:11 "Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God."
It lands on good ground ( a heart willing to accept the word of God),or a fertile place, like a baby starting in the womb. Matt. 13:8-"But other (seed or Word of God) fell into good ground and brought forth fruit...."

Just like there are 2 paths we can choose in our life, there are 2 paths that a seed travels in a woman. Matt. 7:13-14 "Enter ye in at the strait gate; for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in there at; Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it."

We are in darkness before we are born. We are in darkness before we are born again. John 8:12 "Then spake Jesus again unto them saying, I am the light of the world : he that followeth me  shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life."

Then, of course there is labour!;)  Proverbs 10:16" The labour of the righteous tendeth to life....."

When a baby enters the birth canal there is only one way for it to go. There is only one way to the father, through Jesus.- John 14:6 "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life; no man cometh unto the father but by me."

Jesus is the physician, a physician delivers the baby; God delivers us!- Mark 2:17 "When Jesus heard it he saith unto them, "They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance."

When we are born physically and spiritually we have no part in the work that is taking place, we just go through the process. Eph. 2:8-9 "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God. Not of works lest any man should boast." A new life, spiritually, or physically, is a gift from God.

After the labour and the pain and the suffering we see the light! When the baby starts to exit the womb, or birth canal it starts to see light. It is no longer in darkness- John 8:12 "Then spake Jesus again unto them saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life."

We are spiritually washed in the blood-a baby is born covered in blood- Revelation 1:5 "....Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood."

Every one listens for the baby's cry so that we know he is alive!- Romans 10:9 "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved."
Romans 10:13 "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."

Then they cut the umbilical cord, or spiritually we cut ties with the old world and are now part of the new- 2 Corinthians 5:17 " Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things have passed away; behold, all things are become new."-a newborn!!

We are delivered in the delivery room, he delivers us. II Timothy 4:18 "And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen"

Also in the delivery room are nurses, or in a spiritual sense, angels. There is rejoicing over the birth of a newborn- Luke 15:10 "Likewise I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth."

After the baby is born and everything is over they wash the new born in water-baptism after salvation- John 1:29-34 "The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. This is he of whom I said, After me cometh a man which is preferred before me: for he was before me. And I knew him not: but that he should be made manifest to Israel, therefore am I come baptizing with water. And John bare record saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode on him. And I knew him not : but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the spirit descending, and remaining on him , the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost. And I saw, and bare record that this is the Son of God."

After a baby is born they are given milk, so is a spiritual baby. 1Peter 2 :2-3 " As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby: If so be, ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious."

Usually as soon as the baby is born announcements go out, relatives are called, and the good news is spread all around! It is the same way for some one who has just been born again! You can't wait to share with everyone what the Lord has done for you and you want that same gospel (which actually means good news) to go out and touch other people's hearts so they too can be born again. -Mark 5:19 "Howbeit Jesus suffered him not, but saith unto him, Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee."

After we are born spiritually we are now God's child, he is our Father. We are adopted into his family-Romans 8:15-16 "For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba Father. The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God."

As soon as we get home we write our new baby's name in a special baby book just for them, or maybe a family Bible. God also writes his children's name in a book- Rev. 20:15 "And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire."

I hope you all have a blessed Resurrection Sunday!!!

God bless!
