Update on the Jolly Barnyard!

Today has been a very quiet day around here and for that I am so grateful!

Healthy Dog
My "assistant" has been diagnosed with mange and he can now start the healing process. After months of not knowing what was wrong with him and six visits to 2 separate vets we decided he needed to see a specialist in dermatology. There is only a 20-30% chance that the mites will be detected, so even though he was already tested for this we had hime tested again. By the 6th scraping the specialist found/saw the mite.

We went over and over all the things we have changed in his diet, his meds, when the scratching and hot spots started, what he came in contact with etc.

We remembered that he had come in contact with a dead fox in our barn around the same time the itching started. We had looked at the fox and it looked mangey, but we couldn't be sure if that's what it was, or if it was decomposing.

We are so thankful the doctor knew what it was and was able to diagnose him right away. The Lord answered our prayers!

Chicken update:

Our chicken that was "sick" passed away. We believe she was egg bound. We tried the ususal steps to help her get the egg out, but had no success. We are however, relieved she was not ill as that would pose a problem for the rest of the flock.

The barn foundation is coming along! It's going to be really nice when all is said and done. Don't mind the whole in the side, all will be fixed!

Praise the Lord! It's been a good day!

" I would seek unto God, and unto God would I commit my cause: Which doeth great things and unsearchable; marvellous things without number:..." Job 5:8-9
